Sometimes what's best for us terrifies us the most...

I have always felt this, but I have felt it the most lately. Most of us don't realize this when it happens and it is time to: you know what keeps most people from being great and reaching their full potential? THEMSELVES. I know this seems so obvious and clear, and most of us know we are not lazy and are hard workers, but this is something that subconsciously happens to us all. I am realizing this now, and am still struggling on how to get past it...there is so much I wanna do with my life and I have all these conflicting emotions. I feel like time is running out and that I don't know what are the best decisions for me. But you know what? No matter how long I do or don't sit on my butt thinking about all this, time goes on no matter what. It is time for action.......I'm going in, who is with me!? It is time for us to be great y'all! Peace n love.  Deuces.

Switching gears

Lately, I have really been thinking about what I want the theme of my blog to be. We have talked a Lot about football and other stuff here and there. Maybe I should just go by what's important in the season? It is football season, so it's only appropriate to discuss those issues, and I went to a Big Ten college! Duh! And a lot of people enjoy sports, especially my pops whom I love shit-talking about sports legal issues with...anyway... I will soon be tweaking the site to focus on more specific topics, topics I believe I can give much insight about...that's all! Bye.

Big Ten v. SEC

Am I the only one a bit excited and looking forward to the upcoming bowl game match ups between SEC teams Arkansas, Mississippi State, and Alabama and Michigan, Michigan State, and them Ohio State Buckeyes!? Hell, Michigan got lucky to even be playing a ranked team and on new years day- I pray they handle business, the kicker makes a damn field goal, and defense makes the necessary blocks. Michigan state may just give Bama a good run if Bama's defense doesn't plow them over. And since Ohio State's QB is healthy and hyped up from last year's Rosebowl win, I'm sure he is gonna come to play and throw some key passes against the Ark Razors. I want the Big Ten to come out strong, but I just don't see myself rooting for Ohio State, at all. Haha who knows. I used to think I'd rather be thrown naked against a rusty nail, but I still respect the buckeyes and it's gonna be a good game. Let's get it.

What are you Thankful for?

Today I was thinking about something great- Thanksgiving is not about just being thankful for the good that occurs in one's life and what we have. It is about happiness and appreciating those in our lives who uplift us and love us during the present time...

The Pursuit of Happiness

Who is happy with their life?   What is happiness...if you are happy, do you perform better?  If you perform better, do you become happy?  I am at a point in my life where it is time for me to make some serious decisions regarding where I want to go in my life (goals, when da hayle am I gon' write this book, jobs...hell, I'd rather be on TV somewhere sometimes)...and I think I started to freak my own damn self out...smh...sometimes sitting back and taking life day by day, helps.  Because no matter what, the days are gonna pass, and you could be missing other good stuff.  Lesson: chill the hell out.  Right?  I will write more about this later...I've been tired...would people perfer videos, instead of my writing?  LET ME KNOW!  WHERE THE HECK IS EVERYONE!?!?!?!?

THE GAME OR SAFETY?

The NFL is trying to crack down on what it calls "hard hits" in the league - over the past weekend, a few guys were concussed (knocked the hell out) during the game -- one hit even reminded a sports announcer of a hit that paralzyed a player some years ago.  I'm wondering what you all think about the League's decisions to suspend and or take money from players for hard flagrant hits...is the money not an issue?  Will it change the game - guys won't know how to play anymore, worrying about accidentally hitting a dude too hard?  Hmm...my thoughts are this:  what if a guy is running at someone full speed, and the other guy, within a second, moves -- the guy didn't intend to hit him in the head, just the shoulder, but instead knocks him out.  My point is, this is tricky -- the League must very carefully and strategically regulate player on-field conduct, without changing the true nature of the game.   Hmmm...just thinking.......

Relax...and chill

Not much to talk about now...went to West Virginia this past weekend...it is a beautiful place with mountains and rivers and such...had a really nice time.  Sometimes it is nice to just get away from where you live and work, and spend time with others and just...CHILL...without lookin at your cell phone every 10 seconds...you know, walk the dog, eat some catfish... :) and have fun...

Is he/she desperate, BOLD, or just interested?

I must share this experience...SO, some clown fool from my gym decided it'd be cool to go into MY FILE, get MY NUMBER, and call me at 8:41pm last night....smDh.  He had the nerve to act like he was callin to see how my work outs are goin, and then proceeded to say "I know this is inappropriate, but..." and then proceeded to ask me out and try to talk to me...um, sir, have you lost your mind! It was completely unprofessional and inappropriate.

Lessons to be learned from this:
(1) Ladies, if a dude calls you (men, if a lady calls you) and says he KNOWS it is inappropriate and wrong, but does the shit anyway, he/she is not workin wit all his brain cells.  All I'm sayin is this: to me, most people are crazy until proven otherwise.
(2)  Ladies, if a man gets your number NOT from you and calls you up to try and get at you, chances are he is trying to find out (a) if you a hoe, (b) if you a freak, (c) what kind of girl you are (my daddy agrees).  Hell, maybe you should just be flattered and keep it moving -- keep it moving and keep ya eyes open.  Because, generally, once a person (man, woman) knows he/she can do WHATEVER wit yo ass, he...or she...is gon' keep on doin' it, flat out.

Now, I do believe that some men are genuine and you can be flattered that he went to great lengths to contact you ---BUT if the man knows he is going to be seeing you again soon (which this fool knew he would in my gym) and still calls you late at night, then he can kick rocks.   Why would you want to deal with a man/girl who just thinks they can get your number and call you up like you any ol'body...probably runnin' behind you like "oh yeah, I just looked her up and called her and she was ready."  FUK outta here........ladies, respect yourselves, please.   Don't fall for this foolishness.  MEN, don't fall for it either.   Women are just as tricky...and crazy.   This is like a chick sayin to you "oh yeah, I messed wit ya boy but please, wife me up."  Yeah, I said it.

So, in closing...ACTION TO BE TAKEN:  Let these folks know what time it is, be polite, and be firm.  Because somewhere along the line, people will try you (and that is not necessarily any reflection of what type of person you are), BUT how you handle the situation IS a reflection of how and what type of person you are.

Deuces.

Quick Work Out Tips

WARNING: I am NOT an expert; however, I have worked at gyms, played sports, and learned some thangs over the years - these are just my opinions though...they just all happen to be right (grin).

So, I am learning that I really do not like gyms where I've trained that just do the same thing over and over again - you gotta add variety and get classes in that focus also on agility and keepin ya heart rate up - do some sprints.  If I see one more girl on one of those eliptical things, I'll scream...haha.  I just started up boxing again and love it...sprints, suicides, up-downs...push-ups in between drills and a crazy ab work out - I love it also because the trainer does not go easy on any of us, but he also teaches.   Anyway, point is - if you want a good work that will give you results, give you tone, and also be fun at the same time - find a place that focuses on more athletic work outs, with agility and speed training, and that also has a gym for the more traditional work outs (weights, treadmills, etc.).   Unfortunately...or hell, maybe fortunately...ladies, these atmospheres are mostly male-dominated, but do not be intimidated.   But shoot, let's face it, that's a good break sometimes...'cause frankly, females get on my damn nerves sometimes.  Admit it, ladies...anyway...that's all.  Deuces. :-)

I almost threw up...

Alright...sigh, pause, rollin my eyes..........Michigan lost...

I dunno what it is (long space was intentional) about this game but...that kinda hurt me.  Was in 3 picks Denard?  Say it ain't so!?!?!?  I mean, it was BOUND to happen, I know, I hear y'all but dang...I respect MSU tho, but damn...smh...damn.   Naw, forget respect....psssssshhhhtttt....   And Bama lost too?  I was surprised but not surprised, seeing as how SCarolina recruits WRs 6'5" and above...smh...what a hell of a weekend.  And shout out to my other UofM down south - y'all took a hard hit last night, sorry.   I'm out man...deuces.

THE DECISIONS WE MAKE...

I was watching NFL Total Access the other night and they were discussing a recent incident with an NFL player who was charged with drunk driving.   I thought one man made a very good point when he said: "There are some football players who love the game and love what they bring to the game; and there are others who love what football brings to them."  Well, the later portion of the comment is some selfish ass mess.  I think this is a good point.

However, it is also interesting how the media acts a hot damn fool when a Black athlete or celebrity messes up- Tim Allen from Home Improvement was in prison for YEARS before he had his show (what up doe Detroit?) and ain't nobody said BOO about that --> Mike Vick (I am NOT condoning his behavior) messed up and people acted like he was the anti-Christ.  No one cared to look into his background and see how he was raised and learn that dog-fighting was a huge part of the culture within which he grew up.  I dunno, I'm just talkin...maybe my ideas are falsely-led...mmmmhmm....any thoughts?

Stop hatin on my scrunchie, biiiiiitch

Ok, I see mfs got JOKES about me rockin the scrunchie on my wrist in my "why so mad" video.  First of all, pound sand.  haha...second of all! Scrunchies are good for your hair because they don't pull at it or potentially rip any of it out!!!  And ya know, gotta keep the hair game on point.  So blah blah blah, I don't see nobody, I don't see nobody -- LIGHTS OUT!!!!

THE DOOOOGGG

Is it just me, or is Beth on "Dog the Bounty Hunter" a baaaadddd lady --> she just rocks the heels while she's chasin felons and runnin around in dirt, with her long pink nails --> love it.  haha...random, I know.  Do I care?  Not at all.  Hehe

HELPING OTHERS

I encourage you all to give back as much as you can - especially if you are a minority.  Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being a part of a golf tournament to raise money for the Leukemia Society.  Granted, I was about ___ this close to bein mad I had to PAY money to participate, during the event and especially after meeting the family of the person who the tournment was in honor of, I was happy.  It touched my heart to be able to do something for an amazing cause.  I don't know, I just wanted to quickly write about this.  Especially younger African-Americans who are in school or just entering their professional careers, it is important and crucial that you talk to youth and encourage them to pursue their dreams at all costs - all you gotta do is ask for help, and someone will do what they can.  I was talking to a 19 year old today and he was so excited about going to law school, but then sounded discouraged when he learned about how much it costs and other possible barriers.  I said boy, you better ask for some money and stalk some people and let em know you wanna get into that school.   Everything happens for a reason - make shit happen.   I hope he listened...

SHOELACE??

Last time my shoes weren't tied, I busted my assssssssssssss on some concrete and bit the curb.   And this man D Robinson is runnin, what, 76 yards for the TD?   Game recognize game - that's G.  Triple OG status.

A PARENT'S ADVICE...

Did my daddy just call me a hoe?

My daddy is a very crazy and blunt man - he swears that if a person does not get an education past highschool, they will for sure work at Burger King forever.  Smh...I remember the first time I colored my hair, put some brown and blonde highlights in it - this fool went IN on me.  "Oh ok, you wanna look like Lil Kim now?  You just gonna walk around campus lookin like these other hoes?"   Damn daddy...haha...he also told me that I gotta "pay the costs to be the boss" whenever I whined about anything going "hard" in my life...ANYTHING that comes too easy to a person is not going to be as sweet to enjoy as something you gotta work hard at to obtain.   He told me, "I meah sh!t Nicole, if all this came easy to everyone, everyone would be doing it!  But they're not...they're not in law school, they're not.  You gotta play hard to be with the elite.  This ain't a game.  Life is not a fun game.  You gotta take the punches and dish em back."

He also taught me about the power to separate crazy people from those who think straight.  "Come on girl, you know when something doesn't sound right, it probably isn't."   The point is, a lot of people choose to ignore the obvious that is right in front of their face.  It's important to know how to pick out good character and people so you don't end up in bad situations...it takes time, it's a true skill to be learned.

MICHIGAN QBs go head to head!

I love it...Chad Henne and Tom Brady against eachother tonight.  GO BLUE, we produce winners!  F*ck what ya heard....

CAN A MAN CHANGE?

Naw naw, this is not going to be about men and relationships and all that mess...I want to discuss Mike Vick.  I am sure many of you have seen how he is doing well in Philly, and perhaps his recent interview with his old coach Jim Mora --> do you think he is now a changed man?  Just food for thought...

MICHIGAN ballin

Weekend is over - time to get at some college football.  Seriously, I'm kind of mad at Michigan's defense right now, but you know what, it does feel damn good to see Michigan in the headlines again and on the main screen on espn.com.

We got MSU this weekend and they are lookin pretty good, even in the absence of their coach (hope he does get well soon - he was just released from the hospital).  So, with that said, MSU's offense against our defense could present a problem!!!!  Step it up Michgan - we are a hard-hitting and tackling power house.  Don't embarass all the people who just spent millions on that beautiful stadium!!! KEEP IT UP AND LET'S GET IT...cause I will act a plum coon fool if we lose to MSU on some dummy mess.  Love Michigan, let's go!

Side note:  When did  rompers come back in style...apparently, I can wear this outfit today!?!?  hmmmm...let's discuss!

I been gone for a minute...but I'm back wit the flex

Ever have a weekend that just made you think about life and the people in it?  anyway...This past weekend was pretty awesome college football-wise (hmmm...) --> Michigan, we smashed ( uh oh! poor choice of words perhaps...) but yeah, Michigan handled it.  Sorry Ark - Bama got ya'll.   A colleague of mine and I were talkin about Michigan's QB DRob...how y'all think he would do in the NFL?  He's a lil dude, I dunno...perhaps they'd switch him to CB...I dunno - my pops and I are prob gonna argue about that soon ---> any thoughts?  How bout the Bears tho--> Ok, I see y'all handlin some business.   Anyway...seems like I am writing to myself these days...f*ck it...anybody there???!?!?!?

As y'all (me) saw earlier, I had some family in town this past weekend...my sister Kryssy-tina - we had a good ol time - nails did hair did fancy fancy...too bad her broke self came down with $16.  ha ahha my sister is too cute - I love how she says to me "Sooo, I got good news and bad news...the good news is I got $16 dollars with me...the bad news is I ONNLYYY got $16 with me." *boo boo face*  Oh so now I got a job, she just thinks I'm growin money n diamonds in my backyard?! hahaha, love her - I was so sad to see her leave, but cannot wait to see her again.  And why is my mama so excited about her iphone 4 - she has called me a good 39 times, and every time she cracks UP when she sees my face, it's so cute.

And my daddy - it is hilarious to me how he talks to me like I am a GROWN A** MAN (more posts to come about him soon - y'all aint ready yet) --> I will be on the phone with my daddy and when I'm ending the conversation, he'll say "aight man...."  uummmm what??!?! hahaha hilarious...

I'm just rambling...I am tired...I'll holla tomorrow or later tonight...who knows, gotta do some work and marinate.  Yeah, marinate.  Deuces.  LIVE LOVE LAUGH...or make sh!t up...

Quick Family Time

Got the younger sister in town whom I love dearly.  She brought her two friends with her who for ALL purposes, I am going to call Becky and Susan.   They asked that I blog about them...so, here it is...sweet girls they are, nice ladies...um, I guess when they do something of interest, I'll let y'all know.  My sister and I slept in the same bed together, and I felt her dry crusty foot on my leg this morning and she took all my covers!!!!  Woke up with one of her friends staring at us...that's all I got for now.

HAIR...do ya love it?

Curly or straight?  My hair stylist BEGGED me NOT to walk out the salon like this -- > lady, I truly do not give a f*ck.   Then, another woman proceeded to come over and give me some advertisement sch-peal (how you spell that?) on this new carotene conditioning treatment I should do to my hair to make it more manageable and softer.  They were so sweet about it, but really, I was/am annoyed with people trying to get me to do something to change the texture of my hair!  It is manageable, to me.

I have been getting a lot of comments on my hair because it is BONE straight --> thank you, thank you, I do appreciate the comments.  But it is interesting to me, how I get more comments on my hair when it is straight (from people of all races), than when it is curly.   Who else has gone through this?   It has taken me YEAARRRSS to be comfortable with my hair both ways and to be able to appropriately manage my hair without feeling like I have to straighten it all the damn time....I...I...well, before I comment further, I want to see what you all have to say.   :-)  Peace.

Let's talk a little football...

Good Morning!!!!

I dunno who in the hecks thought Pitt was gonna win last night, but bless you alls' hearts.

Now, I am a Big Ten girl...GO BLUE!!!!   Who, we play, Bowling Green (nuff said).  Spartans, y'all can pick up some rocks, throw em on the ground, and kick em (he he he, sike naw).  Spartans got N Colorado --> I feel an Appalachian State moment may occur (pause and think about it). haha, naw I hope the Spartans make something happen with their season this year, cuz once bball starts, I'm going to be all over that (and Michigan's bball team...smh...anyway).

SEC fans?   ACC?   I am also a big SEC fan, so I'm pretty excited bout this Bama/Ark game on Saturday...shoot, that's tomorrow smh I'm trippin.  Now, I'm not the biggest advocate of people describing these football players and athletes as animals or work horses, but Bama - they are a bunch of beasts - they're strong on offense and their defense may make a mf bleed (SMH...whew!)...Ark - after what they did to them Bulldogs - they gon put on a good show and may give Bama a tough time.  My thoughts (cuz I'm tired and don't feel like going into great detail) --> it better be a good game cuz I will be bloggin n sh!t afterwards, talk all the sh!t I always talk!   Anyway...Ark has been consistent over the yeras.   All I know is, in this little pool I'm in, I'm sick n TIRED of bein at the bottom of the standings - sh!t...I ain't a sore loser, but can I live?  Dang...I'm tryna (smackin my hands together) make this moonney...anyway, who you all got this weekend, and let's work this the HAYLE on out!  I'm sleepy - deuces.

RUDE

Maaaan I hate it when people take pictures, say they'll send em, and never do....that's just ignorant and (look above)...I got nothin else. That just pissed me off right fast.

WHY I started this blog...

I don't know :P....sike.

Sometime ago, I decided that I want to start my own legacy...I want people to remember me for certain things in their lives - for bringing joy, laughter, knowledge...heck, just a smile in another person's life will suffice for me. It is not vain of me to want such things; it is just that, when I see another person happy, it is a good feeling. Moving on, I have been telling myself that it is important for people my age to document their lives and the people in it. I want to write a book eventually...however, how do I know that what I want to say, other people will want to know or read about? Ya know what, we cannot think like that !! Oftentimes, writing has nothing to do with others- it is cathartic for the writer! On the other hand, I must go back to bringing kindness and happiness to others....but really, I don't care. Hehe....naw, I do.

So, I am doing this blog because I want to get all my thoughts and ideas out, and engage in conversation with others. Crazy, fun, serious...allll dat and more! And, I hope this will be a starting point for my book...and my legacy....HELP?!!! :)

Monday, September 20, 2010

I can't believe I even thought about that this weekend....

SMH...so tonight, I am just going to jump into it...tomorrow, I will give yall a background of why I decided to start this blog.
BUT RIGHT NOW, this sh!t right here...I am ashamed to admit that I had one legit thought this weekend, and another semi-ignorant one.

One) My legit thought was - "I can't stand females that act like they like sports, but really don't!"  Ignorant thought - "I am glad I have good hair."  Now, the legit thought started when I was talkin to this girl at work about the football pool goin on at work - I was goin hard about Michigan's new QB (handle it D Rob, handle it) - and she starts namin dudes' names.  Um, H0e, I mean, girl, (pause and reflect), I aint talkin about dudes- I am tryin to talk football - (pause)...hayle naw... --Any thoughts about these types of women?   Also, GO BLUE!  and did MSU really beat ND?  Well, dayum - bless their hearts, that's why he had a heart attack aint it?  Ohhhh it all makes sense...hahaha I aint sh!t for sayin that.

Two) My ignorant thought --> so I had to get my hair done this weekend...blah blah blah...and as my stylist finished my hair, I looked in the mirror and thought about how much I like my hair.  I mean, its texture, the way it flows --> Is that bad?  Any thoughts?  Let's discuss, and we can all work this the hell on out.  Deuces.
